Our Love Story

Kevin and I met at the Plasma Center in little Rexburg, Idaho. I was entering my sophomore year of college, and after a long and torturous summer of bad relationships (oh my word everything was soooo dramatic back then), I had decided to swear off boys for the next semester.

School started, and I finally got up enough guts to donate plasma without my roomates. As I started donating, I noticed a pretty cute guy working in the row over. Of course we kept making eye contact. After my first draw, I began feeling light-headed and knew I was starting to pass out. All of a sudden this cute guy "happened" to be walking by (he worked there as a phlebotomist at the time) and asked: "uh, you okay?"...some romantic first words right? After getting me a granola bar and drink, some flirting, he walked away and I thought: that'd be weird if i ended up marrying this guy... No joke. I had never ever thought that after such a fast meeting/run in with a guy. But then I finished donating and stood up next to him and thought: "okay. there is no way i can marry him! he's too short for me! and he's blonde!" (oh the horror right?)

I donated twice a week, and Kevin of course timed all his breaks and shifts just right, so that he could get off and walk me out to my car or home. He was crazy and wild, loud and fun. And I loved that about him.

Was at Fizzolies in Idaho Falls. I wasn't feeling the greatest (i swear it's because of the sandwich i ate earlier that day at lunch) but went anyways...and threw up three (yes 3) times throughout the evening. Once at the restaurant all over my food tray and the booth. The second time on the side of the road as we were driving back to Rexburg, and the third time was outside of Albertsons as we were trying to rent a movie from RedBox. He's a trooper, eh? I totally expected him to ditch out after disaster number one. But he didn't. And that's when I knew I had a keeper.

I had just driven back to school (Meridian to Rexburg), in a snowstorm, in which I thought I was going to die. I hate driving in the snow. I hate driving on snow. And I REALLY hate passing semi trucks in the snow, on the freeway. I was tense and so stressed, and felt totally bad for the girls that had to drive back with me. I'm sure they thought I was a freak. As soon as I got to my apartment, Kevin wanted to head out to go grab some dinner at Applebees. We did and he didn't touch his food. It was hilarious, and I can't remember now if I noticed that or not....I think I did! Then we drove around and he took me to his old church parking lot....haha oh that parking lot...(just kidding. nothing ever happened there!). Kevin got out and cranked up the radio to a good song (so good that i just can't remember the name of it..), and asked me to dance. He never did that, and hates dancing. I knew something was up. And that's of course when he got down on one knee and proposed in the snow. Awwwwe.

For time and all eternity in the Rexburg, Idaho temple. We are faaaar from perfect and take it one day at a time. Marriage is about trust and commitment. Some days we might want to push the other off a cliff, but then we have our good days and everything just clicks. It all makes sense, we laugh off our stress and frustrations and we are reminded of how beautiful our love and relationship truly is.
