I thought it was about time I finish writing this.
It's been in "draft" mode since I started and posted mine,
back in 2011,
and I didn't want to wait until his birthday rolled around to publish.
Here is 25 years of Kevin's life (in summary form).
Enjoy!
1986
After one boy and six girls, Kevin's parents decided to try for another boy...and they got one! Kevin was born May 22, 1986. He weighed 10 lbs, ? oz. He was a chunk for sure!
1987
According to his older sister Erin, his first words were "Michael Jordan"....ha ha....he says they were actually: "Mommy I'm taking a dump."....(our poor kids)
1988
Kevin welcomed his first little sister, Lindsey Jo, into the world. He was happy to have a little playmate; especially one he could boss around, and "beat the shiz out of".
1989
He turned THREE! And doesn't remember anything about this year.
1990
Kevin got another little sister, Jamie, who they ended up calling "Bird" because that's just what she looked like. A little bird. He remembers getting babysat by Marie Sterm (his mom's good friend), when his mom was in the hospital, and she took him and Lins to those magical golden arches (aka McD's) and they got happy meals. It was a momentous occasion.
1991
Kevin started good 'ole kindergarten at Adam's Elementary. Mrs. Sanford was his teacher. He would like to note here that he is the only kid(remember there were 10) that never got taught by his mom or dad(they were both teachers), and he feels a bit jipped. He remembers getting his picture in the newspaper this year, when his mom was being interviewed for something to do with school. This was also the year that he flipped off the entire student body at Sugar while saying "Cowabunga Dude!".
1992
First grade with Mrs. Beasley began. Bo Casper, a fellow classmate, whipped him in the eye with his sweater. Another time, during recess, he accidentally tore a girls coat. She ended up being in his sister Keri's class, and he had to apologize to her whole third grade class. He turned six and became best friends with Evan Sonderegger, which led to many adventures. This year he and Keri got their first bikes and they had to go on a treasure hunt to find them (he loved that!).
1993
Mrs. Hacke was his second grade teacher, and happened to also be Holl's(his oldest sis's) friend's mom(did we lose ya?). He won the "Best Student" award complete with a shiny gold star and he got his picture taken. His first memories of "Show and Tell" were this year. He started playing city league baseball.
1994
He turned eight this year and on June 4 he was baptised by his older brother, Dustin. It was a cool experience he will never forget. Mrs. Stoddard was his third grade teacher, and everyone in the class thought she was the prettiest. At family pictures this year, Kevin's dad noticed something bulging from his pocket. When asked to show what was stuffed in there, Kevin pulled out a ninja turtle toy he had stolen from his cousin, Troy, earlier that day. He was made to give it back and apologize. (and thus we see the slow beginning to his rebellious days...ha ha, jk) This was also the year he set the field on fire.
1995
Kevin changes school to Lincoln Elementary (where his mom taught), and Mrs. Gardner was his fourth grade teacher. He turned 9 years old and he started getting more into football. He loved playing at recess. He started playing city league basketball. Tanner Webster became his friend and his dad was their coach.
1996
Jeff Hess moved into the neighborhood and they became good friends. He turned 10 and started fifth grade with Mrs. Young. He could do front flips on the ground and got his first crush. She was his first "girlfriend" but they never spoke because they were too "shy and scared". (awe)
1997
Mr. Wilson was his sixth grade teacher and was the "awesomest teacher ever". He still keeps in contact with him. He started really liking the Bulls and Michael Jordan. He watched the Bulls play the Jazz in the finals this year.
1998
He turned twelve and received the Aaronic Priesthood. He loved being a deacon and passing the sacrament.
He started going to mutual. Seventh grade started and he doesn't remember his teacher's name, but he does remember she was....dumb(i will not repeat what Kevin called her).
1999
Kevin went to Madison Jr. High and became friends with Joe Woods. Eighth grade was fun. It was the first time he read Harry Potter and he claims he was the first one-he knows of-to read it. ha. His mom ordered it out of a random magazine because he hated reading, but he ended up really like this book! He also read the Lord of the Rings books this year because Evan Sonderegger told him about them. His friends were Jeremy Warnick, Evan Sonderegger, Jeff Hess, Scott Erickson, Tanner Webster, Jacob Fullmer, Nick Holman, Jesse Ferney, Tyler Stoddard, Joe Woods, Daniel Price, Lance Pack, David Griffin, Brennen Larsen, Charles Tietjen, Carson Tietjen, and Fred Eaton, and Joseph Palmer(to name a few).
2000
Even though he lived in the Madison School District boundaries, at the beginning of his freshman year, Kevin switched over to attend Sugar Salem High School. He did it for two reasons: 1. He got more playing time in his sports. 2. His dad taught there. And luckily it still only took him 10 minutes to get to school. He became good friends with Jason Egbert, Judd Ferguson, and Kevin Huntsman (i like to call them the terrible four). They were crazy together and many great stories were born from these mischievous boys(here's a story and here's another good one). He turned 14.
2001
End of Freshman year, Kevin got his drivers liscence! He loooooved driving, and drove a 1994 Honda Civic. He played highschool basketball and football. This was also the year he got his first legit girlfriend, and his first kiss. They talked on the phone and insant-messaged all the time :)
2002
Sophomore year began. Brody Green, Tyler Patterson, Blair Walker were good friends. He played football.
2003
Junior year was filled with partying and friends, especially if they were girls. Kevin started wrestling, which he liked, but HATED wearing the nasty singlets. He also played baseball, football, and ran cross country. Received his Eagle Scout.
2004
Was voted Senior Class President. Still loved partying. He found out he still had a baby tooth, that his dentist didn't pull for some reason, and he got braces. He hated them. About this time he got another girlfriend.
Went to Lagoon for the senior class trip. Graduated high school. Attended BYU-I for a semester. Broke up with girlfriend.
2005
Recieved his mission call to serve in the Jackson, Mississippi Mission. He left June 6th. Hurricane Katrina hit. His bed consisted of a church gym floor with all the other missionaries in the area. For the next couple months he didn't have to wear his regular Sunday attire, because they were clearing trees and logs and garbage. He loved it. He met and touched the lives of many people.
2006
He became a Zone Leader. The mission continued and he met tons of new friends, a lot he keeps in touch with today. They are: Elder Etchemendy, Merkley, Biado, Talbot, Smith, Brown, Anderson, Blake, Hutchinson, Drake, Evans, Holman.
2007
Returned home from his mission in June, and a day later kissed a girl, who became his girlfriend for the next 3.5 months. That wasn't me (Audrey). A week after he got home he was interviewed at the Plasma Center and got the job (which he kept for the next 5 years). He bought his first car, a 2000 Nissan Maxima GLE. In September he noticed a really cute girl donating and wanted to get her number. He didn't want to seem too forward, so for that whole month he just talked with her when she would come in to donate. He planned his break times so that he could drive her home after she was done donating. He finally got her number and called to set up a date. Their first "unofficial" date was October 1st. They went to watch some of BYU-I's "Spirit Week" and then ran through the library on campus. He thought she was fantastic. He kept dating her for the next four months. They even looked at rings, but that kind of made him get cold feet. He didn't know what to do.
2008
Decided he better propose or else he was gonna lose this girl. He did it on January 7th, and four months later was sealed for time and all eternity in the Rexburg, Idaho Temple. He decided this would be a good time to try doing "summer sales", so they packed their bags and headed for Tucson, Arizona. And then Albuquerque, New Mexico. There were some fun and hard moments down there, but he learned lots. He loved the money, but not the environment. In October he bought a 2003 Subaru Impreza WRX.
2009
School and work was his life. His major changed from Business to Health Science. He knew he liked working with people and helping them, but wasn't sure what to do about it. In November he bought his first "home" or townhouse. Went on vacay with the Simmons's from NYC to DC.
2010
Decides he wants to be a P.A. and starts taking classes in that direction. More school and work. They celebrated their two year anniversary. He bought a puppy dog for his wifey because he didn't want to give her a baby yet. Went down to Saint George for FullerFest. Saw the Oregon coast. Lived in their house for a whole year! He got his hunting licence and shot his first buck! Basically he has been gung-ho about the whole hunting thing ever since. He sold the Maxima, and within one month bought himself a 2003 GMC Sierra 1500 HD (truck) and a 2007 Kawaski Brute Force four wheeler. These led to many exciting adventures :)
2011
Regrettably sold the WRX and bought a 2000 Saab, which he sold a month later, and replaced with a 2002 BMW 325i. Finally decides he wants to become a Nurse Anesthetist. Applies to get his Associates at BYU-I and starts the application process for ITECH (located in Idaho Falls). Is excited for the journey ahead, knows it won't be easy, but knows it will be totally worth the time and energy in the long run! Finds out he is going to be a daddy! Has lived in 7 different states.
*will continue to be updated*
This is so fun to read especially since I recognize most of names you list!
ReplyDeleteI remember donating plasma and I hadn't seen Kevin for years. I remember him telling me about a girl he was dating and liked a whole lot (you). and this was like 5 years before you and I ever met! It is so funny what a small world it is.
